Facials FAQ
Waxing is a form of hair removal that removes the entire hair from the hair follicle. Unlike shaving, Nair or clippers, which bluntly cut the hair at the surface. Warm wax is applied to the skin and “shrink wraps” around the hair follicle allowing the hair to be pulled from the root. Because the entire hair is removed, skin is left very smooth and outlasts any other form of hair removal, you won’t believe it till you try it.
Yes, possibly. The upper lip, back and chest are all areas that are prone to breakouts. If you have a tendency towards ingrown hairs and irritation from shaving, you are more likely to have the same reactions waxing, although dramatically decreased. To minimize skin reactions, you MUST use proper home care and come to get waxed on a regular schedule.
All-in-all, come in like clockwork, every 4 weeks on the dot, exfoliate your skin and moisturize. This will help set you up for waxing success!
No way, no how. Wax in general is antibacterial, simply because there is zero water in the product. In order for bacteria to grow, some amount of water must be present.
We practice smart, clean waxing and take universal precautions to ensures that the practices she used every day in the Health Care would is exactly what practice in our waxing world! We use gloves, disposable sticks, clean & prep the skin prior to hair removal, disinfect our tools and more.
If you find yourself tempted to shave or trim, don’t! Once you see that waxing leaves you stubble-free, you won’t want to. Staying away from clippers and razors will also help to remove more growth cycles during your next visit. If you have the urge to shave in between visits, book them closer together! Razors and clippers chop the hair at its thickest, making it harder for the wax to hold on to!
In general, hair has to be about ¼" long for wax to be able to grab onto it. If it's not long enough, then your technician may not be able to remove it, especially if it's thick. ... In fact, it can make getting a good wax way harder. If hair is 1/2" long or longer, you can run into some real problems.
It’s like working out at the gym. You don’t automatically lose 10lbs on your first visit, right? It’s the same thing with waxing. You will not get the best wax until your 3rd wax. This is due to the 3 stages of hair growth. So, 3 growth stages + 3 waxes = the best wax. By “best wax” we mean: No hair left behind, ultimate smoothness, slow hair regrowth and little skin irritation.
It’s kind of like a Bikini wax on steroids! A Brazilian wax is the complete removal of hair, front and back. You decide if you want to go completely bare or would like to keep a small landing strip or triangle of hair. The Brazilian alone (without any added waxing service) should take no longer than 15-30 min.
Absolutely! Beyond the Manzilian (the male version of the Brazilian) many men also wax their chests, backs, noses and ears. Some men love to be slick from top to toes, and we can take care of that. But we have a tip for you: Don’t wax your face. While women’s faces respond well, the hair on a man’s face and head isn’t built for the waxing process.
Well, yes. But you will only need to undress from the waist down (including your underwear). We know it may be a little unnerving for you, you’ve never met our staff, we’ll going to be applying warm wax, your goods are hanging out – but trust us, we do this ALL day long. It’s just a body part to us. Waxing is a no judgement zone. Come as you are.
Prior to your initial service, you will complete an intake consult form. Please advise your esthetician of any medical or skin conditions and also if you are taking any medications prescribed by a doctor such as Retin-A or Accutane. Users of Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Accutane are advised not to use waxing on the face as these medications tend to weaken the skin. Because of this, tearing of the skin may occur when the wax is removed.
Yes! Please do not cancel your appointment if you have your menstrual cycle. Just insert a tampon and you’re good to go. Take note, there are differing opinions as to whether or not waxing hurts more on your cycle. Some do believe the pain is worse while others experience no changes in discomfort at all. If you have a low pain tolerance, take ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment to help out!

After 24-48 hours, regular exfoliation with a shower gel and loofah or exfoliating glove will help keep skin soft and prevent ingrown hairs.
Apply an SPF 30 or greater sunscreen to any exposed treatment areas. Since waxing exfoliates as well as removing hair, your skin will be more prone to sunburn in the days following your treatment.
You can never be too old for a Brazilian! We even have clients who are septuagenarians. True story! As for the age to start waxing, that’s really up to you – or your parents if you’re under the age of 18. Guests 17 or younger should bring their parent or guardian in for the first time, as they will need to give the green light.

The Hydrafacial treatment is a new breakthrough in aesthetic technology. This medical grade, multi-step process removes dead skin cells and extracts while simultaneously bathing the new skin cells with cleansing, hydrating, and moisturizing serums. The treatment is soothing, refreshing, and immediately effective.
There are a few key differences. For example, microdermabrasion treatments use manual extractions, while a HydraFacial uses a vacuum-like tip to cleanse deeper down than a traditional extraction. That's also much less painful. HydraFacial uses 3 step 1st step cleansing and peel, 2nd step extract and hydrate 3rd step saturated with hydrating serums full of antioxidants and peptides. Additionally, chemical peels use acids and are most effective on lighter skin tones, whereas HydraFacials can be used on all shades.
